Matthew Breetzke captains the ODI side having only made his debut earlier this year and might rely heavily on Quinton de Kock, who will be playing 50-overs for the first time since reversing his retirement.While South Africa drew the Test series against Pakistan 1-1, the hosts won the three-match T20I series 2-1. The ODI leg of the tour takes place in Faisalabad, which last hosted men’s international cricket back in 2008. South Africa will then embark on their tour of India, which begins with the first Test on November 14.

Jac Caglianone is getting the call to the big leagues and Patrick Mahomes is fired up.

The Kansas City Royals made the call on Sunday to bring up their top prospect for his first taste of major league action. Caglianone is a top 10 prospect in the big leagues and has been tearing up the minors this season. In 50 games over two levels in 2025, he's slashing .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs.

This weekend, Caglianone blasted a 442-foot home run for the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers.

The Royals selected Caglianone with the sixth pick in the 2024 MLB draft. During his time at the University of Florida, Caglianone broke the school record for home runs in a career and was a two-time All-American. He also pitched for the Gators, but has since moved away from the mound.

Caglianone can play first base and outfield, and it will be fascinating to see how Kansas City uses him and how his power translates to the big leagues.

One person who is incredibly fired up about the development is the Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback. Mahomes became a Royals minority owner in 2020 and took to social media to celebrate the moment.

A lot of people in Kansas City probably feel the same way right now.

In an instant blow for new manager Vitor Matos, “top clubs” are now reportedly making moves in an attempt to sign Swansea City’s Harlan Perry, who has been the academy’s Player of the Year for four consecutive seasons.

“Somehow we have got a bit far away from what is the DNA of the club. So it will take steps, it will take a bit of time, but I really believe we can take steps in the right direction.

“For that, we will need everyone, the whole club, all the fans and us all to have the same vision. That’s what I want. I see the fans are still behind and pushing the team, we will need them and I see players who want to change the momentum and we need to find the right idea and the right vision to do it.

“That’s the most important thing. It is clear we need to win games and points, but we need to focus on the process and I really believe if we can play to our best then the more chances we will have to win. That’s the direction we need to have.”

It’s a DNA built from the first-team to the academy, but one that Swansea’s best young player may yet miss as contract concerns continue to emerge.

Newcastle United's star defender Dan Burn is all set to voice the Genie in an Aladdin pantomime running over the Christmas period. Burn will make his debut in the world of entertainment, although he himself will not feature on the stage. Instead, his voice will be pre-recorded, considering the Magpies' busy schedule in December in the Premier League.

Burn lands role in local pantomime

Burn will make a cameo appearance in a production of Aladdin, which will be held in his hometown of Blyth. Burn will feature in the local pantomime as the voice of the Genie. The defender's voice will be pre-recorded as he won't be able to make an actual physical appearance at the production, which will run between December 6 to December 28, given his commitments to Newcastle United.

The Magpies have a hectic Christmas period of games, which starts with a clash against Sunderland on December 14. They also face Premier League giants like Chelsea and Manchester United, with the clash against the Red Devils scheduled for Boxing Day.

Burn eye World Cup birth

Burn's impressive run of form in the 2024-25 campaign, where he played a key role in Newcastle United winning the Carabao Cup, at 32, the defender earned his maiden England call-up in March 2025 and earned his first-ever international cap. Since then, he has regularly been called up by Thomas Tuchel in the Three Lions squad as he has made it to the national team five times this year.

Burn is a regular starter under Eddie Howe and is a key figure in the Magpies' dressing room. If he manages to maintain his consistency and remain injury-free, he is almost sure to make it to the England squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America next summer.

The Magpies have had a topsy-turvy start to their 2025-26 campaign after Eddie Howe oversaw a dream season at St James' Park. Newcastle initially struggled for consistency at the start of the new campaign, but in the last three Premier League matches, they have finally gained some momentum. Before facing Spurs on Tuesday, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Howe's side beat Manchester City and Everton, 2-1 and 4-1 respectively, in back-to-back fixtures.  

They would now aim to maintain the unbeaten run as they look to pick up three points in their upcoming Premier League clash at home against Burnley on Saturday.

The Colorado Rockies finally ended their devastating 22-series losing streak on Tuesday night by beating the Miami Marlins 3-2. They won Monday night and Tuesday, putting them ahead 2-0 in the three-game series—that's an official series win.

And, the Rockies sealed the win with a pretty epic ending. In the bottom of the ninth with the Rockies leading 3–2 and one out away from victory, Marlins pinch hitter Heriberto Hernandez crushed a ball to center field. Off the bat, it looked like Hernandez had tied the game, but center fielder Brenton Doyle spoiled the Marlins' chances by running over and reaching up for an incredible catch.

This was Colorado's 11th win of the extremely disappointing season. Before Monday's win, the Rockies became the quickest MLB team to reach 50 losses in a season since 1884. Now, they're on a two-game winning streak.

The Rockies will look to sweep the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon. After that, they will go on to face the NL East leading New York Mets starting on Friday.

Chelsea failed to get themselves back on track after a defeat in midweek, drawing 0-0 away to Bournemouth.

The Cherries were the better side, frustrating Enzo Maresca’s men, who are still in search of their first Premier League win since beating Burnley at the end of November.

Despite having an almost full-strength side, which included Cole Palmer from the start for the first time since September 20th, Chelsea were lacklustre going forward. They managed just 11 shots and racked an expected goals tally of just 0.88xG.

The Blues had an early scare, too, with Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo having a goal ruled out in the opening moments of the game. The goal was cancelled due to a tight offside against striker Evanilson, giving Chelsea an early lifeline.

There was also bad news for the West Londoners on the injury front, with Liam Delap forced off after just 32 minutes. He picked up a shoulder injury, which BBC Sport report could be a dislocated shoulder. That issue could see the Chelsea number nine sidelined for as long as four months.

It was a tough day at the office for Chelsea, with Enzo Fernandez putting in a performance to forget.

Fernandez’s stats vs. Bournemouth

Chelsea were once again without Fernandez’s usual midfield partner, Moises Caicedo, after his red card against Arsenal last weekend. Up against an energetic Cherries midfield, it was a day when the 2022 World Cup winner struggled.

Indeed, without Caicedo next to him, the Argentine midfielder certainly had his work cut out in the middle of the park, having more defensive responsibility than he might if the Ecuadorian were partnered with him.

The stats from Fernandez’s performance reflect how tough of an afternoon it was for him defensively. He only managed to win five out of 11 duels, as per Sofascore, committed two fouls and failed to win his only tackle. It was certainly a day when he struggled off the ball.

Football London journalist Bobby Vincent was critical of the Chelsea number eight, too. He said Fernandez ‘looks fatigued’ at the moment, but did call it ‘understandable’ given the amount of football he has played this season.

However, it was not just the 35-cap Argentina international who struggled for the West Londoners.

Chelsea’s worst player vs. Bournemouth

It was a day to forget for left-back Marc Cucurella. The Spaniard, normally a player so reliable at full-back and composed in position, was wasteful against the South Coast outfit and put in a performance far from his best.

One person who didn’t seem too impressed with the defender’s showing at the Vitality Stadium was Vincent. He gave Cucurella a 6/10 for his afternoon’s work down south, describing his performance as ‘nothing extraordinary’.

The games are now coming thick and fast for Chelsea. They have a busy festive period, with assignments in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup.

After a poor performance against Bournemouth and the number of games they have, it’ll be interesting to see if Maresca keeps Cucurella in the side.

There are options if he wishes to rotate the Spaniard out of the starting 11. Jorrel Hato is the natural back-up left-back, but he hasn’t played too much this season. Reece James and Malo Gusto could also operate on that side.

How Maresca looks after the fitness of his most important players this month will be key to their form. After a poor performance from Cucurella, it gives the Blues boss a chance to rest and rotate.

Adrien Rabiot has hailed his stunning strike against Torino as the "play that changed the game," sparking a dramatic AC Milan comeback that saw Christian Pulisic score twice to seal a 3-2 victory and send the Rossoneri back to the summit of Serie A.

Milan pull off important comeback

The pressure was palpable at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Monday evening. For the opening 25 minutes, it appeared that the Rossoneri were destined not just for a slip-up, but for a humiliating collapse.

Max Allegri’s side endured a nightmare start, conceding twice in quick succession to Nikola Vlasic and Duvan Zapata, leaving them staring down the barrel of a damaging defeat. The team looked lethargic, disjointed, and seemingly unable to cope with the hosts' intensity.

However, just as the game threatened to spiral out of control, Rabiot stepped up. The French international produced a moment of individual brilliance in the 24th minute to drag his side back into the contest, halving the deficit and shifting the momentum entirely before substitute Christian Pulisic stole the headlines with a decisive brace.

Speaking to the media after the whistle, Rabiot offered a brutally honest assessment of Milan’s opening exchanges, while also praising the character shown to turn the result around.

"We were soft at the start, we need to work on that because we can't always turn things around like that," Rabiot admitted. "At half-time, we told ourselves to be more aggressive, and we immediately saw a change in pace. Pulisic's introduction then did us good.

"As for the rest, it was good, because we need to look at the positives too. The goal? It wasn't the most important, but it gave something to the team. We've changed. A nice goal, which brings us the three points. Every now and then you need a play that changes the game."

Rabiot's "nice goal" was undeniably the turning point. Picking up the ball in midfield with his side trailing 2-0 and morale flagging, the Frenchman drove forward and unleashed a powerful effort that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Pulisic's impact praised by Rabiot

Rabiot was also quick to highlight the contribution of Pulisic. The American winger, who had started on the bench due to illness, was introduced in the second half and immediately transformed the attack.

Pulisic's first goal levelled the scores, and his second, which was a clinical finish inside the box, completed the turnaround, sending the travelling fans into rapture. The victory extends Milan’s unbeaten run and reinforces their credentials as serious title contenders, showing the grit required to win "ugly" when necessary.

"Two days ago I was truly dead, today I felt much better," Pulisic said. "I'm happy to have come here to help the team. Yesterday we didn't know if I could play, but this morning I felt much better. I'm happy with the goals, but the important thing was to win the match."

For Rabiot, who arrived on a free transfer to add experience and winning mentality to the midfield, nights like this validate the club's decision to bring him in. His ability to recognise the need for a "game-changing moment" and then deliver it is exactly the kind of leadership Allegri needs as the season heads into the crucial winter months.

Milan will now look to consolidate their lead when they host Sassuolo at San Siro next weekend. They will be hoping for a cleaner performance than the one produced in Turin, but as Rabiot emphasised, the "three points" are ultimately all that matters in a title race. With Pulisic firing and Rabiot running the engine room, the Rossoneri look ready to fight for every inch of ground in the battle for the Scudetto.

Over the last couple of weeks alone, we’ve seen a stunning blockbuster trade, a switch-hitting catcher make history and several divisional races heat up as the temperatures have done the same. 

After sweeping the New York Mets and winning a series against the MLB-best 49–30 Detroit Tigers, are the Tampa Bay Rays a legitimate contender? Did the Boston Red Sox make a mistake by trading away Rafael Devers? We’ll answer those questions and more below.

The Mets have reason to worry

Verdict: Fact

Cue the theme. The Mets were riding high on that fateful day entering play against the Rays on June 13, boasting the best record in the National League and a 4 ½ game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies. Since that point, the Mets have played nightmarish baseball and won just one of their last 10 games. Making matters worse, the Phillies overtook them for the NL East lead after taking two of three from the not-so-Amazins’ during a June 20–22 series at Citizens Bank Park. 

Let’s be clear here. It’s a long season, and the Mets are still 13 games above .500 and firmly in the mix for the division title; at worst a wild-card spot. There’s no need to panic. But worry? There are several reasons to worry. 

During the Mets’ losing skid, only one team, the Texas Rangers, has scored fewer runs than New York. The Mets lineup, which features $765 million man Juan Soto, slugger Pete Alonso and star shortstop Francisco Lindor, has been shut out twice and has scored two runs or fewer four times in those 10 games. 

The most concerning part for the Mets? The trio of Lindor-Soto-Alonso has mostly been highly productive in June. The rest of the batting order? Not so much. Catcher Francisco Alvarez, once the top prospect in the majors, has scuffled to a career-worst .652 OPS and on Sunday was optioned to Triple A to work through his struggles. Alvarez is far from the only underachiever, with others like Brett Baty, Luisangel Acuña and Tyrone Taylor also bringing down the offense. Simply put, if Lindor, Soto, Alonso or Brandon Nimmo aren’t hitting, the Mets are probably in trouble. 

And it’s not just the lineup. The previously stout pitching staff has yielded the second-most runs in MLB since June 13 while Mets starters have pitched the seventh-fewest innings during that span, prompting manager Carlos Mendoza to lean more and more on an increasingly taxed bullpen. As you can see, it’s been a perfect storm for the Mets during this less-than-stellar stretch.

Plus, the injury bug has landed in Queens. Ace Kodai Senga, outfielder Jesse Winker and starting pitchers Tylor Megill and Sean Manaea are all either sidelined or working their way back from injuries. 

In their division, the Mets have to contend with the playoff-tested Phillies and the resurgent Braves. New York is too talented to continue playing like this. But it would be a lie to say that this wasn’t a worrying stretch.
