Afastado dos jogos do Flamengo desde 22 de setembro – Rodrigo Caio voltou lesionado da Seleção Brasileira, em 16 de outubro -, o camisa 3 está em tratamento de uma lesão na panturrilha direita, após recuperar-se, neste período, de um edema ósseo no joelho direito. De acordo com Rogério Ceni, o zagueiro será reavaliado na quinta-feira, na reapresentação do elenco no CT.

Sem Thuler e Natan, o Flamengo tem outros cinco zagueiros inscritos na Copa: Gustavo Henrique, Léo Pereira, Otávio e Noga, além de Rodrigo Caio, que, por ora, segue como dúvida para a partida da próxima terça-feira, no Maracanã.

Neste início de trabalho, Ceni tem optado pela experiência. O problema é que as fases de Léo Pereira e Gustavo Henrique não são boas. O segundo, após voto de confiança do treinador que o escalou como titular em seus primeiros jogos, perdeu a vaga para o jovem Thuler. Em Buenos Aires, Léo Pereira, por sua vez, voltou a cometer erros – que, por pouco, não custaram o resultado.

Com a fragilidade defensiva escancarada – o Flamengo sofreu ao menos um gol em 14 das últimas 15 partidas -, a responsabilidade não cai apenas sobre os zagueiros, mas diante do Racing, assim como aconteceu recentemente, os erros de Léo Pereira e Thuler foram visíveis. Além do lance do gol, a dupla não foi capaz de cortar três cruzamentos que chegaram aos atacantes adversários em condições claras de marcar, por exemplo, lances nos quais os defensores perderam a referência de Lisandro López, que não marca há mais de um ano.

O fator que dá confiança a Rogério Ceni, e aos torcedores, é que, pela primeira vez desde que foi apresentado, no dia 10 de novembro, o treinador terá uma semana livre de jogos para trabalhar com o elenco do Fla no Ninho do Urubu.

– Quando você tem jogadores tão talentosos na frente, é natural que encontre as falhas no setor defensivo. Todo mundo espera que o Flamengo faça gols, ataque. Eu acho que é o conjunto, é o sistema. Temos que ter tempo para treinar. Estou aqui há duas semanas, estou no quinto jogo. Vamos tentar melhorar o time nesta semana, inclusive o sistema defensivo – avaliou Ceni.

ويُطالب مسئولو النادي الأهلي بتوقيع عقوبات قاسية على لاعبي بيراميدز، رافضين التصالح أو التغاضي عن هذه السلوكيات التي تُهدد استقرار اللعبة المصرية وتُخالف روح الرياضة.

وشدد الأهلي على الاستعداد التام لتصعيد الأمر إلى جميع الجهات المسئولة عن إدارة اللعبة في حال لم تتخذ لجنة الانضباط قرارات رادعة تُنهي مثل هذه التجاوزات وتُحافظ على قيم الرياضة.

يبقى على لجنتي المسابقات والانضباط البت في هذه القضية وإصدار قراراتها خلال الفترة القادمة، مع ترقب كبير من قبل جميع متابعي كرة القدم المصرية لمعرفة مصير الوقائع التي حدثت.

The captain found good support from D’Arcy Short and Marnus Labuschagne as Australia posted a formidable 322 for 5 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In reply, Sarel Erwee and Gihahn Cloete got South Africa off to a flying start. However, once the openers were dismissed, wickets kept tumbling. At 167 for 7, Khaya Zondo was left fighting a lost battle. He struck four fours and seven sixes in his 104-ball 117 and was eventually the last batsman out. South Africa were bowled out for 290 in 48.4 overs, with Mitchell Swepson the most successful bowler for Australia, picking up 3 for 40 in ten overs.Head could have been out stumped for 35 off Shaun von Berg, but the extra bounce meant wicketkeeper Rudi Second failed to collect the ball. Von Berg then himself failed to latch on to a difficult return chance when Head was on 70. The batsman took full advantage of the reprieves, guiding Australia to a total which fetched them their first win of the tournament.Australia didn’t have a great start and lost Usman Khawaja to a run-out in the fifth over when Erwee showed great presence of mind. Khawaja tried to force Robbie Frylinck on the leg side but missed and was struck on the pads. The umpire denied a loud lbw shout as the ball went towards slips where an alert Erwee hit the stumps with the batsman having casually wandered out of his crease and being lazy about getting back in. However, that remained the only bright spot for South Africa in the field.At 17 for 1, Head joined Short and the two upped the scoring-rate. Head started by collecting two fours off Frylinck, while Short launched Beuran Hendricks for six over wide long-on before driving him through the covers for a boundary.Short then welcomed von Berg into the attack with a fierce hit down the ground, with the bowler barely having any time to react. The legspinner though got his revenge in the next over when he trapped Short in front with a fuller delivery as the batsman went for a sweep.Head and Labuschagne didn’t let the momentum slip though, and added 136 in 137 balls for the third wicket. Labuschagne used the sweep to good effect and brought up his fifty with back-to-back fours off von Berg. He too got a second chance, on 57, when Zondo dropped a tough return catch. The duo added 89 in just 12.5 overs before Erwee hit a full toss from Head straight to Labuschagne at short midwicket.Cloete brought up his fifty with a four off Head but was bowled right after, with the ball spinning just enough to beat the bat and dislodge the off-stump bail. Second then pulled a short ball from Ashton Agar into the hands of Jack Wildermuth at deep midwicket, leaving South Africa 118 for 3 in the 20th over.South Africa were relying on Farhaan Behardien, but he too was run out in a bizarre fashion. An Agar delivery struck him on the pads and rolled towards Short at first slip. A confused Behardein set off for a single before realising the ball was in Short’s possession, but it was too late by then.Swepson then ran through the lower-middle order with three quick wickets. Zondo fought hard, adding 82 for the eighth wicket with Frylinck, but, in the end, had to be satisfied only with a consolation century.

Everton haven't needed to rely on their strikers this season to pick up victories this season so far in the Premier League, defenders even getting amongst the goals last time out versus Crystal Palace as left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko opened the scoring in the 3-2 victory at Selhurst Park.

The game-deciding strike saw another unexpected hero rise to the occasion, holding midfielder Idrissa Gueye scoring the winner with three minutes remaining on the clock after being found by midfield teammate Abdoulaye Doucoure in space.

It's not to say Dominic Calvert-Lewin hasn't led the line effectively up top for Sean Dyche's men in glimpses this campaign – scoring four goals in all competitions from 11 appearances – but the Blues aren't heavily reliant on a superstar striker akin to Romelu Lukaku who was deadly in a Blues strip during his four-season stay.

Dyche will still be disappointed that his new £25.75m man in Beto has struggled up top however, with Neal Maupay – who was loaned back out to former club Brentford for a mini-reunion with the Bees in September – also now outperforming the misfiring summer signing in West London.

The 6 foot 4 attacker joined the Blues with hype attached to the purchase, the 25-year-old seeing out his Udinese career in a rich vein of goalscoring form.

In his final full season with the White and Blacks, the imposing striker would manage ten goals from 33 Serie A appearances.

He hasn't quite recaptured this knack for finishing off chances expertly in Italy with his new employers in England however, only scoring once so far for the Toffees in the EFL Cup with zero goals to his name in the cut and thrust of the Premier League.

Beto did put in a promising cameo against Crystal Palace off the bench this weekend in the top-flight, his towering presence useful with the Blues battling to keep ahold of the three points deep into the game – Everton's number 14 winning three aerial duels from only 13 minutes on the pitch, as per Sofascore.

Dyche will hope that his summer signing can find his shooting boots soon though, with Maupay exposing Beto's ineffective nature in front of goal playing under Thomas Frank away from the Toffees.

The Frenchman endured a torrid time at Goodison Park before relocating back to Brentford on a short-term deal, Maupay signing on the dotted line at Everton with hopes he'd be a prolific striker but his time with the Blues has not gone to plan whatsoever.

Maupay has only managed one goal in total for the Merseysiders, leading to Dyche sending the 27-year-old away from the club to regain his confidence and return back to Goodison hopefully as a transformed beast altogether.

The impotent £50k-per-week striker with the Blues has managed to turn around his goalscoring fortunes with the Bees, scoring once and assisting a further two goals in Premier League action this season which puts him ahead of Beto for top-flight goal contributions.

Maupay is in the midst of a recent purple patch for his side, the 27-year-old's one solitary loan strike coming against West Ham in the Bees' last home encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium – heading in a mis-hit strike turned ingenious assist from teammate Frank Onyeka to open the scoring, Frank's men winning 3-2 come full-time.

Dyche will be demanding more from Beto, Everton not wanting to have another striker dud on their hands. However, in the example of loaned-out striker Maupay, misfiring strikers can just get back into their stride randomly and so he'll hope Beto can do the same and show why the Toffees decided to splash big cash to secure his signature in the transfer window.

‘The people want India-Pakistan cricket, and you can’t go against their will’

Ehsan Mani, the newly elected PCB chairman, has termed India’s stance on playing Pakistan “hypocrisy”. In a climate of political tension between the two countries, India have not played a bilateral match against Pakistan in any format since January 2013, but have met them 10 times since then in multilateral events.In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Mani said it was the “will of the people” that cricketing ties between India and Pakistan resume, and added that sporting contact would improve relations between the two countries.”The main thing is that we play cricket against each other. When we play cricket, especially in our countries – when we go to India or when they come here – helps in increasing people-to-people contact. Indian fans come to Pakistan. Lakhs of fans have come to Pakistan from India and everyone goes back happy.”There’s no better way to improve the relations between countries than having sporting contacts, cultural contacts. For me, that is far more important than any amount of money that comes into the game.”Indian public obviously love to see India and Pakistan playing, and so does the Pakistan public. Rest of the work is of the politicians and frankly, once India is in the lead-up to its elections next year, so I don’t think there will be any softening in their attitude. But in the long term, the people want it and you can’t go against the will of the people forever.”There is a lot of hypocrisy at the moment. India plays an ICC event against us but doesn’t play a bilateral series. That is something that we need to address.”India-Pakistan matches, Mani said, had the “highest value financially in the world”, but he maintained that the PCB’s desire for the resumption of ties was about more than money. When asked if Pakistan cricket could survive without bilaterals against India, he had a one-word answer: “forever.””Money isn’t the issue, it’s more about the game,” he said. “There are more viewers for an India-Pakistan match than any other match in the world. So, if the Indian government decides to deprive its own citizens of watching an India-Pakistan match then that is their choice.”Mani’s predecessor as PCB chairman, Najam Sethi, was instrumental in moving the ICC to set up a dispute panel to resolve the impasse over India-Pakistan bilateral cricket. The PCB and the BCCI are currently awaiting the panel’s verdict.Asked if he would have chosen the dispute-panel route, Mani said he would have preferred dialogue with the BCCI and the Indian government, and recalled his role, during his tenure as ICC president, in convincing the Indian government to green-light the first full India tour of Pakistan in 15 years.”I would have preferred for there to be board-to-board discussions and board-to-government decisions,” Mani said. “I was ICC [president] in 2003 and India and Pakistan were not playing each other then.”I went and met the Indian government and I took with me the people that were leading the Indian cricket board at that time – Mr. [Jagmohan] Dalmiya, Mr. [IS] Bindra, Mr. Rajsingh [Dungarpur] – and we went to the different ministries concerned with India-Pakistan cricket relations, and they spoke more in favour of resuming cricket between India and Pakistan than I did as a Pakistani.”I had to be slightly neutral since I was with the ICC. But I didn’t have to say anything – they were the ones saying we want to play against Pakistan. There is always some political interference in India but the Indian government has said, ‘Look, at the end of the day, it is the BCCI’s decision to play or not play against Pakistan, but they have to come and present a case to us,’ and I took them on face value.”It took us about a year but they came in 2004 because I kept going back with people on the Indian cricket board and I was going as the ICC President and not as someone representing Pakistan.”For all that, Mani said he wouldn’t keep trying to persuade India to play Pakistan beyond a point.”I don’t intend to ask India to play us at all,” he said. “If they want to play they tell us, if they don’t want to play that’s fine. But we are not going to go after them, we are not going to beg them. It’s good for the game if India-Pakistan play each other but it will be on equal terms.”

وأضاف: “وأول مدير للنادي كان حسام البدري مدرب الأهلي السابق، حتى صاحب (القاضية ممكن) انتقل للمارد الأحمر من بيراميدز، أحمد حسن كان مشرف على الكرة وهادي خشبة كان رئيس قطاع الناشئين”.

وتابع: “لا أعلم لماذا العلاقات بين الناديين تصل لهذا الحد، في النهاية هذه كرة قدم، أجواء ليس لها معنى ولا منطق، بيراميدز ليس ناديًا جماهيريًا ليكون الند بالند مع الأهلي صاحب الشعبية الكبيرة والتاريخ ومئات الملايين من الجماهير يشجعوه حول العالم، لكن في النهاية ممكن أن تنافسهم على لقب الدوري هذا الموسم هو سبب اشتعال الأجواء”.

وبسؤاله عن رأيه في تحية جمهور الزمالك لـ محمد الشيبي لاعب بيراميدز، قال: “يجب أن نقول الحق، كثيرون دافعوا عن حسين الشحات بعد موقفه ضد الشيبي (ده في ناس طلعت على الهوا وقالت القلم كيفني)، والبعض قال إن لاعب بيراميدز يستحق الضرب والسباب، وبعد ربع ساعة عامر حسين يصدر قرارا بإيقاف الشحات مباراتين”.

واختتم: “نحتاج الانضباط من خلال منع المكالمات التي تصل لرؤساء اللجان، من أجل إنهاء بعض الأمور”.

Liverpool transfer news – Khephren Thuram

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan and Juventus are both eager to bring Khephren Thuram to the Serie A in January, but Liverpool's past interest keeps them in contention.

OGC Nice are expected to demand around €40m (£35m) for the dynamic midfielder, and given the finances, this could force the Italian sides to act quickly as his value threatens to skyrocket, given the concerns over the cost already.

It's stated that should Liverpool decide to lodge a formal offer, things could get quite sticky for such outfits in matching the wealth of the English giant.

Khephren Thuram's style of play

Liverpool's interest in Thuram, aged 23, was well-documented before the summer transfer market opened its shutter, but other options were instead targetted and the Frenchman remained in his homeland.

An elegant dribbler and progressive presence in the centre of the park, Thuram has the cheek to weave through the central third and drive the play into opportune phases with regularity, with writer Sam McGuire claiming that he could become a "monster" at Liverpool.

While the modern game has been shaped by intricate passing patterns, focusing on pinballing the ball up the field with juxtaposing precision, Thuram holds a certain defiance to modern conventions and instead focuses on carrying the ball into the danger area himself.
