Rangers, after the loan exit of Sam Lammers and injuries to both Danilo and Kemar Roofe, are reportedly looking to add to their attacking options in Philippe Clement's first transfer window at the club. Reports suggest that they are even going head to head with Old Firm rivals Celtic in pursuit of a new forward.

Despite already signing Fabio Silva on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers this month, Rangers still want to boost Clement's frontline with further fresh faces. The Gers have been linked with moves for Michy Batshuayi and Lawrence Shankland, who could both have plenty to offer at Ibrox. Batshuayi, a former Chelsea striker and Premier League winner would bring a wealth of experience to help the younger Silva. Shankland's Scottish Premiership goals this season, meanwhile, 13 in 21 games to be exact, would undoubtedly add extra firepower to Clement's side.

As per reports though, it may not be either of those options that the Gers choose to turn to in the near future. According to Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider, Rangers are in the race to sign Tommy Conway from Bristol City, but face competition from Celtic, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The in-demand 21-year-old caught the attention of many in his last outing for Bristol, in which he netted the winning goal in an FA Cup upset victory over West Ham United.

With 18 months left on his current deal at Ashton Gate, Conway may have a decision to make sooner rather than later. Those at Ibrox will hope that his Scottish routes play a part in his choice, allowing Rangers to land a deal for the young forward at some stage. With a number of clubs interested, Conway is certainly one to watch both this month and during the summer transfer window.

"Excellent" Conway could be just what Rangers need

The last thing that Rangers will want is a short-term solution leading the line for Clement. Instead, they could do with a player of Conway's potential and current ability to slot straight into first-team football. In Conway, the Gers would have a player ready to perform at the level asked but someone who is far from the finished article and could yet reach the very top, creating an ideal situation. It's no surprise that the Bristol City man has attracted plenty of interest, either.

Conway's stats paint the picture of a player breaking through, having scored eight goals in 22 appearances in all competitions this season. Former manager Nigel Pearson knew all about the Scot's ability too, praising the forward after handing him his senior debut in 2021.

Pearson said via The Bristol Post: "Today Tommy Conway started, and I thought he was excellent. He was really good. Alex Scott going on, most people at the club hadn’t heard of these players before, the coaching staff didn’t know who they were."

Added firepower seems to be the desire at Ibrox and now another option has reportedly been added to the list of potential fresh faces to lead the line. Eight points adrift of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic with two games in hand, any arrival could prove to be a difference-maker for Clement.

A stoic Dinesh Karthik said it was unfair to say Kolkata Knight Riders are over-dependent on Andre Russell after his side lost their fifth straight game, effectively making all of their last four games must-wins if they want to qualify for the playoffs.Knight Riders were 124 for 5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad when Russell joined Chris Lynn with 4.3 overs left in the innings. Football Insider revealed on Saturday that West Brom are eager to bring Hertha Berlin talent Derry Scherhant to England this January, with Ipswich Town also sniffing around for the German youngster according to the report.

Played both down the flanks and as a centre forward this season out in Berlin, Scherhant could be a wise buy if Fellows does depart the Hawthorns for pastures new.

Previously linked with a shock move to Germany where Scherhant currently resides, Fellows is now subject to interest from Everton in the Premier League according to Fabrizio Romano on social media.

Still yet to tie Fellows down to a new contract, Corberan could swoop in for this 21-year-old transfer target if the Baggies end up becoming powerless over the ongoing situation with their in-demand winger and he ends up walking away.

How Scherhant fits into the West Brom team

Once referred to as an "emerging talent" by football journalist Mike McGrath when the attacker was on the radar of Newcastle United, Scherhant wouldn't simply move to West Brom and wait for an opportunity on the sidelines as one for the future anymore.

Able to be versatile and play down either flank, Scherhant's main joy to date at Hertha Berlin has been when he's deployed as an out-and-out centre forward – notching up an impressive 26 goals playing in that role for the Berlin II team from just 45 appearances in that position.

Scherhant even has five goals from five this campaign for the reserve side before being bumped up to the first-team set-up, proving himself to be a deadly finisher in the German capital.

Yet, when drafted into the play in the senior side, the 21-year-old has commonly played down the left-hand side on top of his striker duties.

With Josh Maja out of action for some time, and Daryl Dike also prone to a lengthy injury layover, Corberan could well utilise Scherhant as a backup striker option to Brandon Thomas-Asante as well as using him as another body down the wings.

The Spanish manager in the Hawthorns dug-out does enjoy having a versatile and flexible squad to call upon when numbers are light, with the likes of Jed Wallace playing across a whole host of attacking positions this season.

Scherhant, who stands at 6 foot 1, could well tick that box for Corberan too, with the 21-year-old even capable of slotting in at right wing and doing a job there if Fellows does move on.

Corberan's men will just have to hope Scherhant isn't tempted by a move to the Tractor Boys over the Baggies, with the West Midlands outfit scared that Ipswich will come out on top again in a transfer tussle as they did by landing Jeremy Sarmiento on loan to West Brom's dismay.

Still, with Fellows rumoured to be off, West Brom will need to push on and add some needed depth to their side in order to maintain a playoff spot in the Championship.

Fan uproar has forced the Bangladesh Cricket Board to change the colour scheme of the team’s main World Cup jersey, after they had initially designed an all-green kit with no red in it. Red has been an important part of Bangladesh’s limited-overs kits and is an integral part of the country’s flag.ESPNcricinfo has learnt that the ICC didn’t actually ask the BCB to drop red from their jersey, but to avoid using the colour to write the team name and numbers on the green background, as that would make it difficult to read.The ICC had initially approved a BCB design of a green jersey with a red stripe and white lettering. But the BCB subsequently submitted three more designs for the green kit that had no stripes, red writing, and white writing. The ICC asked the BCB to avoid using red for the letters of players’ names and numbers because, against a green background, it would make it difficult to read. The board sent another design that had the writing in white on both the home and away kits, but no red anywhere. The ICC approved that design.After the final approval, the BCB unveiled the jersey on Monday, with BCB president Nazmul Hassan handing it over to Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza prior to an official photo-op in Dhaka.”After the jersey unveiling yesterday, I sat with the board directors to look at the jersey again,” Hassan said on Tuesday. “Someone spotted the lack of red in the jersey. Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep has been ruled out of their match against Bangladesh on Tuesday in Bristol after he suffered a hard blow to his bowling hand at training on Sunday. He was taken to the hospital where it emerged that he suffered “a dislocation and a cut in his small finger on his bowling arm,” and “he will need a week’s time to recover from the injury,” according to SLC*.Pradeep was bowling to Kusal Perera in the nets, when the batsman hit a ball at Pradeep’s head. The bowler put his right hand up to his face in self-defence, and suffered a blow to a finger. Team-mates who gathered around appeared to be concerned about the seriousness of the injury. Pradeep himself was in visible pain and was subsequently taken to hospital.”Nuwan was given treatment at the hospital, while the doctors reset his dislocated finger and the cut on his finger was closed with stitches. He was also administered with antibiotics,” team manager Asantha De Mel said in an SLC release.An injury to Pradeep will be a serious blow to Sri Lanka’s World Cup hopes, with the fast bowler having bowled the decisive spell in Sri Lanka’s only victory of the tournament so far, against Afghanistan.
