West Brom flop Kenneth Zohore is due to return to the Hawthorns following a quite underwhelming loan spell away at Championship outfit Millwall later this week.

The 26-year-old, who cost former Baggies boss Slaven Bilic £8m in summer 2019, was shipped out to the Lions in October for a short-term stint until January 16th.

It means new Albion boss Sam Allardyce now has a major decision to make over the Dane’s future at the club.

Whilst the 66-year-old veteran is in dire need of options upfront, he absolutely shouldn’t turn to Zohore.

Indeed, West Brom currently do not have a fit senior striker available at the club. Charlie Austin has been sent out on loan himself, whilst Karlan Grant is set to miss at least five to six weeks with a broken foot.

It leaves Callum Robinson as the only real choice and he is winger by trade.

Though, even in these desperate times, it would be better for Big Sam to offload the returning Zohore once again – either permanently or on another loan spell.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett remained coy over the potential of keeping him at the Den. He told reporters (via NewsAtDen):

“We haven’t really had that discussion yet because it’s more important for Ken to stay fit. If he stays fit, then we’ll obviously ask the question,” before he added: “We’ve spent a lot of money having him here and [he’s] not [been] available, so we also need to think about what’s sensible for us as a club.”

In 17 league appearances in the Championship last term, the former Cardiff man could only muster up three goals. His tally of one strike from five outings this term surely shows that he’s barely cut out for the second-flight, let alone the Premier League. Not only has he struggled to stay fit, but when he has played, he’s hardly set the world alight.

Zohore has actually played in the big time before, but one goal in 19 matches is far from inspiring either.

Once dubbed a “manager’s dream” by Neil Warnock, Zohore has struggled to make any sort of impact for West Brom since that big-money move last summer and considering he’s on wages thought to be around £50k-per-week, as per The Sun [print version 13th September 2020, p61], he’d be better off elsewhere.

His salary could go towards a new signing, one who is actually fit enough, and good enough, to feature in the top-flight.

The Telegraph’s John Percy has played down the chances of any arrivals that exceed a transfer fee of £2m, so having Zohore off the bill would certainly help tenfold.

Millwall are thought to be playing less than half of his wages too (£17.5k-per-week), meaning since his arrival nearly 78 weeks ago, he’s cost around £13.4m and counting.

In total, that is around £2.7m per goal.

He has bled the Baggies dry for far too long. It’s time to get rid of him permanently.

يخوض كريستيانو رونالدو معركة مع صحيفة “نيويورك تايمز” لمنع الكشف العلني عن ملف مزاعم الاغتصاب المرفوعة ضده، وفقًا للتقارير.

تدعي صحيفة “أثليتيك” البريطانية أن الصحيفة الأمريكية تحاول الوصول إلى ملف القضية الذي يحتفظ به قسم شرطة مدينة لاس فيجاس.

اتهمت عارضة الأزياء السابقة كاثرين مايورجا، رونالدو باغتصابها عام 2009 في غرفة فندق بمدينة نيفادا، وهو أمر كان ينفيه دائمًا.

تمت تسوية هذه الادعاءات خارج المحكمة منذ 11 عامًا ولم تتابع شرطة مدينة لاس فيجاس القضية حيث تلقت مايورجا  375000 جنيه إسترليني من مهاجم مانشستر يونايتد والبرتغال.

لم يكن الحادث المزعوم علنيًا وقت التسوية، ولكن في عام 2017 نشرت مجلة دير شبيجل مقالًا يكشف عن الاتهام والاتفاق اللاحق بين الطرفين.

وبحسب ما ورد يحاول كريستيانو رونالدو منع الكشف عن ملف القضية، وزعمت المجلة الألمانية أنها حصلت على الوثائق من موقع Football Leaks.

في عام 2018، سعت مايورجا إلى إلغاء التسوية لأنها جادلت بأن الأمر حدث تحت الإكراه وكتب قاضي التحقيق في وقت سابق من هذا العام، أن مستشارها القانوني، ليزلي ستوفال، اتصل بـ Football Leaks للحصول على “وثائق مميزة”.

أرسل ستوفال هذه المستندات إلى شرطة لاس فيجاس وطالب بتعويضات وتكاليف قدرها 56 مليون جنيه إسترليني من خلال محكمة لاس فيجاس.

لكن القاضي أوصى بإلغاء قضية الاغتصاب المدني ضد رونالدو في أكتوبر من هذا العام بسبب إجراء ستوفال للحصول على هذه “الوثائق المميزة”.

وقف قاضي التحقيق دانييل ألبريجتس مع الفريق القانوني لرونالدو، الذي جادل في أن الشكوى المدنية اعتمدت على معلومات تم الحصول عليها من أوراق يُزعم أنها مسروقة، والتي لا تزال محتجزة في ملف القضية.

هذه الوثائق الـ 200 هي أصل نزاع جديد بين رونالدو وصحيفة نيويورك تايمز، حيث قدمت الصحيفة طلبًا في وقت سابق من هذا العام تدعي أن هناك التزامًا بالإفراج عنها للجمهور بموجب قانون نيفادا للتسجيلات العامة.

وكتب إلى محامي رونالدو في نوفمبر أنه سيتم الكشف عن الملف، وتلقوا ردًا في نفس اليوم.

ادعى الرد أن الملف “يحتوي على مستندات قدمها المحامي الحالي للضحية المزعومة، والتي تتمتع بامتيازات واتصالات بين المحامي وموكله ومنتج عمل لا ينبغي أن يكون لدى المحامي المعارض في المقام الأول”.

Leeds United were linked with a move for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Julian Draxler as the January transfer window first opened, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that the Germany international is being increasingly monitored ahead of what could be his final season with the French giants (via Sport Witness).

The Whites would hugely benefit from signing a player of Draxler’s calibre, especially as a free agent. The 27-year-old is now into the final six months of his current deal and although he is valued at £18million by Transfermarkt, he could join Leeds for nothing in the summer if they can agree a pre-contract agreement.

However, should Victor Orta work his magic on bringing Draxler to Elland Road, it could spell the end of Pablo Hernandez.

Hernandez replacement?

Draxler is being eyed by several elite level clubs, as is natural for a 56-cap international who has won three league titles and the World Cup. Since his arrival at PSG in 2017, he has impressed all around him. Former coach Unai Emery heaped praise on his debut and described him as an “ambitious” player.

Draxler has since gone on to score 22 goals and 33 assists for the Parisians but has recently fallen out of favour. Should he join Leeds, his direct competition would be Hernandez, who is eight years his senior. The Whites veteran has already slipped down the pecking order under Marcelo Bielsa, making just eight appearances in the league this season.

His only goal contributions came during Leeds’ 5-2 win over Newcastle last month, where he grabbed himself two assists. With just over a year left on his £23,500 per week contract and already struggling for game time, the arrival of a much younger and more prolific player in his position will surely only push him further towards the exit door.

According to WhoScored, Draxler has averaged more key passes, crosses and a better passing accuracy than Hernandez so far this season. Whilst they have both been deprived of minutes, the German comes off the stronger candidate to slot in behind Patrick Bamford in Bielsa’s struggling attack.

Having a new creative player like Draxler who has been praised by many could be the exact boost Leeds need to pick up their inconsistent form. Whilst they aren’t in any real danger of relegation as it stands, the tables can easily turn and they will want to get themselves back on track and hopefully return next season with a stronger lineup that can cause problems for opposition’s backline in a second top-flight campaign.

According to the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick’s update ahead of tonight’s game against Chelsea, two of Spurs’ injured players have now seemingly been ruled out for the remainder of February.

Giovani Lo Celso has been absent since pulling up with a hamstring problem in their 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on December 20th, and the reliable journalist claims ‘there is little prospect of the midfielder returning for at least three weeks.’

While Sergio Reguilon is another who is currently on the treatment table at present.

Kilpatrick has also delivered an update over his progress as he too is out with hamstring trouble, though just like the Argentine, he’s ‘set to miss most of February.’

Cruel blow

Given Spurs’ current form, this will quickly become a nightmare for Mourinho as he could really do with both players right now. Indeed, they have lost back-to-back matches and now face the Blues, who have a bit of a new manager bounce after appointing Thomas Tuchel.

Spurs have missed both players and their attacking influence substantially over the last few weeks and would have hoped to have them back as soon as possible.

Across their two defeats to Liverpool (3-1) last week and then Brighton (1-0) on Sunday, Mourinho’s side have only amassed an xG of 0.47 as per Understat.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s strike against the defending champions was a rare scorcher from long-range, so without that, they’d have failed to score in successive outings.

Lo Celso ranks third for key passes per 90 (1.88) but when you factor in those that have played at least ten league games, he sits top of the tree, so clearly, Spurs have lacked his presence in attacking midfield as he’s been the man providing those valuable chances to Kane and co.

Similarly, only Kane (11) and Heung-min Son (six) have delivered more assists for Spurs than Reguilon (three) in the Premier League this term, as per WhoScored.

No left-sided full-back is managing as many as his 0.7 successful crosses per 90 either. And that’s a problem as they attack most down this flank (37%).

It’s no wonder that Spurs have struggled to score in the absence of the duo, so to be without them throughout the rest of the month with games against Everton in the FA Cup, league leaders Man City and for the return of the Europa League knockout stages, is potentially one cruel blow to their chances of stopping the rot anytime soon.

Even when Kane hopefully returns next week, he’s going to struggle to score goals himself if Spurs aren’t creating chances, so having Lo Celso and Reguilon sidelined for such a long time is certainly going to keep Mourinho up at night.

Aston Villa are facing potential disaster over young winger Tyreik Wright, amid reports claiming that clubs are keeping tabs on his situation.

What’s the story?

The 19-year-old is currently out on loan at League Two side Walsall, and has enjoyed an impressive start since joining them back in the January transfer window – he’s picked up two assists in his last two league games.

Now, The Daily Mail claim that both Everton and Celtic are among the clubs keen on signing him, particularly with his contract at Villa Park coming to an end come the finish of this season.

The report adds that the “growing interest in Wright represents a dilemma for Villa with his current contract ticking down”.

Smith may be fuming

When Villa’s clutch of U23s and U18s bravely took on Liverpool in the FA Cup third round earlier this calendar year, it would have surely left Dean Smith absolutely buzzing to see so many of his club’s young stars make a real impression.

It was a tantalising taste of what could be on the cards for Villa’s future, and would have delivered a timely reminder to Smith that while big-money signings might be necessary to take that next step in the Premier League, the Midlands club have got a real talented bunch just waiting in the wings for a genuine opportunity.

And in the 19-year-old Wright, Villa have got another gem on their hands. Walsall boss Darrel Clarke said of the Ireland youth international: “Tyreik’s got great ability. He’s been showing his match winning qualities in the Under 23’s at Villa and for his country at youth level. We’ve got a great relationship with Villa and we’re very grateful to them for letting us have one of their exciting youngsters.

“He has that match winning quality, energy, pace, and he created the goal at Port Vale (his debut) with one bit of magic. As long as he’s doing the other side of the job he’ll have a good future.”

Letting him leave on a free transfer in the summer just when he’s beginning to show that he can handle senior football, would be an absolute travesty from those in charge at Villa.

The 5 foot 10 starlet is taking his opportunity at Walsall with both hands, and Smith will surely be keen on seeing how he comes back as a player come pre-season.

Not tying him down to a new contract, and potentially even seeing him join a Premier League rival in Everton would be nothing short of a disaster.

Just when the likes of Louie Barry and Jacob Ramsey become house-hold names for their emergence onto the scene, Villa could lose an exciting prospect who’s been impressing away from the spotlight, and that would surely aggrieve Smith.
