Crystal Palace have made a move to bring Nikola Maksimovic to Selhurst Park this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by Corriere Dello Sport journalist Antonio Giordano, who revealed during an interview with Radio Marte (via Sport Witness) that the Eagles have made the SSC Napoli centre-back an offer of a contract, with his current deal with the Serie A side due to expire on Wednesday.

Giordano goes on to state that West Ham United, Real Betis and Sevilla have also made contact with the 29-year-old, however, at present, the defender remains undecided as to which direction he would like his career to take.

With Patrick Vieira looking set to take over from Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace in the coming days, should the Frenchman go on to make Maksimovic his first signing for the south London club, it would very much appear to be a real statement of intent by the 45-year-old.

That year, over Maksimovic’s 22 league fixtures, he helped his side keep four clean sheets, as well as making an average of 1.4 interceptions, 1.6 tackles, 2.8 tackles and won 4.2 duels per game.

The £36k-per-week Serbia international also chipped in for his side in an attacking capacity, scoring one goal, registering one assist and creating one big chance for his teammates, in addition to making an average of 0.4 key passes per league fixture.

These returns saw the man Carlo Ancelotti dubbed a “complete” defender earn a season SofaScore match rating of 7.01, ranking him as Gli Azzurri’s joint eighth-best performer in the Italian top-flight that season.

As such, should Vieria indeed go on to take over at Selhurst Park in the coming days, it would seem highly advisable for the 45-year-old to do all he can to get a deal over the line for the centre-back in the summer transfer window, as not only would he seem to be a magnificent addition to the Palace backline but also an extremely cost-friendly signing.

وأكد: “يفكر المدريديستا في شيئين، الفوز غدًا (أمام إسبانيول) والفوز يوم الأربعاء (أمام مانشستر سيتي)، هذا ما نفكر فيه”.

Indeed, as announced by the club, talented young midfielder Freddie Potts has also signed his first professional deal.

The 17-year-old enjoyed a fine 2020/2021 season in the academy, featuring 21 times for the Under-18s before then being promoted to the U23s – scoring his first goal for the side soon after (whufc.com).

Son of former West Ham man and current youth coach Steve, Potts’ impressive form has resulted in the club rewarding him with a three-year deal until 2024.

O modelo de negociação dos direitos de televisão que predomina no nosso fut tem uma série de equívocos que explicam o impasse entre Coritiba, Atlético e Federação Paranaense. São erros que começam na origem, na legislação que rege o setor, passam pela interferência das federações no processo e terminam na incapacidade dos clubes em valorizar seu próprio produto.

A legislação brasileira estabelece que, para transmitir um jogo, uma emissora tem de ter contrato com os dois clubes. Em boa parte das ligas europeias, por exemplo, o direito é do mandante. Quando recusaram a proposta da Globo, Coritiba e Atlético chegaram a buscar alternativas, mas quando os outros dez clubes fecharam contrato com a emissora, qualquer negociação ficou inviabilizada, já que apenas o jogo entre os dois poderia ser transmitido por outro canal. Foi aí que surgiu a ideia de usarem seus canais no youtube.

São os clubes que investem, contratam jogadores, pagam taxas e custos para jogar, levam o torcedor às arenas. Portanto, são eles que deveriam negociar seus direitos. E fazer da sua imagem o que quiserem. No Rio, no Paraná, em São Paulo e outros estados, contudo, são as federações que negociam, ou no mínimo recebem comissões sobre os valores acertados. São elas, por vezes, que definem a distribuição das cotas entre os clubes. Ganham sem fazer nada. Ganham em cima de quem realmente faz a roda do futebol girar.

Por fim, na outra ponta da cadeia, os próprios clubes não se valorizam. Poucos tem capacidade de fazer uma negociação profissional. A venda de propriedades casadas, de TVs aberta e fechada, pay per view e internet, há anos já não existe na Europa. Isso reduz o preço das propriedades, desestimula a concorrência. Isso torna os clubes escravos de um único senhor.

A entrada do Esporte Interativo negociando diretamente com os clubes mexeu com o mercado e elevou as cotas. É um sinal de mudança. Mas ainda é pouco. Atlético e Coritiba, ao se recusarem a jogar sem poder exibir seu jogo por conta própria, estão exercendo seu direito. Quem deve ser punida nessa história é a Federação Paranaense, que impediu a transmissão e o jogo. Que levem até o fim essa briga que não deveria ser só deles, mas de todos. É uma briga pelo futebol.

وأضاف: “رغم أن ظروف التحضير لهذا الموعد القاري، كان بها بعض التذبذب بسبب عطلة عيد الفطر، إلا أن طموح الوفاق لن يتغير في كل المنافسات التي يخوضها بغض النظر عن هوية المنافس”.

Rangers’ reported hopes of signing Ethan Robson from Blackpool this summer are over after he joined MK Dons on a season-long loan earlier this week, which is a blow for Steven Gerrard as the midfielder could well have been the man to replace Glen Kamara at Ibrox.

According to Football Insider, Rangers were beaten to the signing of Robson by the English League One outfit, who announced that he had joined on loan for the 2021/22 campaign earlier this week following Blackpool’s promotion to the Championship.

The report claims that both Rangers and Motherwell made enquiries about the 24-year-old earlier this year but were unable to prise him away from the Tangerines.

It is something of a surprise that he has been allowed to leave Neil Critchley’s side on loan, considering that he made 29 league appearances for them last season as they earned promotion to the second tier of English football.

After his signing was announced, MK Dons manager Russell Martin sang his praises, saying: “Ethan is a gifted footballer who played nearly 40 times for a promotion-winning team in this division last season.”

“He really suits the way that we play with both his technical ability but also with his athleticism, and after speaking to numerous people who have coached or played with him, he clearly ticks all the boxes for us.”

The defensive midfielder is skilled when it comes to passing and tackling, so had he made the move to Ibrox this summer, he could’ve been the ideal player to replace Glen Kamara in Gerrard’s side.

The former Dundee man is looking increasingly likely to leave the Scottish champions after catching the eye at the European Championship with Finland, with a number of Premier League clubs said to be interested in his signature.

The 25-year-old was in excellent form for Rangers last season as he made 51 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists from midfield.

Whilst Gerrard will be desperate to keep Kamara at Ibrox, an offer north of £10m may be too difficult for Rangers to turn down this summer; and considering that fellow midfielder Steven Davis will turn 37 next season, a replacement midfielder might be needed.

The Verdict: Right decision for all parties

It makes perfect sense for Casilla to part ways with Leeds, considering his lack of playing time at Elland Road recently. At 34, the once-capped Spain international is still at an age where he can be a regular elsewhere, so it benefits everybody for the Spaniard to enjoy a fresh challenge this summer.

Bielsa now just needs to make sure he has an able deputy for Meslier brought in, should Leeds’ first-choice ‘keeper pick up an injury next season or suffer a slump in form.
