Após ter ficado fora das partidas classificatórias para a fase de grupos da Libertadores, Sassá busca vaga titular no Botafogo. Inscrito na última sexta-feira para poder disputar a Libertadores, Sassá é reserva imediato de Roger, já que Canales está prestes a assinar rescisão de contrato com o Botafogo. O jogador está determinado a conquistar a vaga titular e Jair Ventura deixou claro que ele tem chance. No jogo treino, contra o Nova Iguaçu, realizado na tarde desta quarta-feira, Sassá marcou o único jogo do time reserva do Alvinegro.

Em 2016, o atacante teve marca importante na temporada do Botafogo. Sassá foi artilheiro do time no Brasileirão, com 12 gols. Além do desempenho acima das expectativas do atleta, o grupo, que tinha como objetivo não ser rebaixado, conquistou a sonhada vaga na Libertadores. Segundo Wagner, ex-goleiro do Alvinegro, campeão brasileiro de 95, o clube está fazendo um belo trabalho tentando trazer o Sassá de volta e o jogador aprendeu a lição ao ficar fora de tantas partidas.

– O melhor foi a atitude do Botafogo ao fazer de tudo para recuperar o jogador. Acho que ele aprendeu com o castigo e está vendo que tem um futuro brilhante. Tinha que passar por esse susto porque é garoto. É novo e precisa ter disciplina para continuar na equipe. Eu conversei com o presidente (Carlos Eduardo Pereira) e eles estão fazendo um trabalho para trazer o Sassá de volta. Não pode misturar balada, deve ter mais concentração. O Sassá vai ajudar bastante o Botafogo. O time está em um caminho certo.

O atleta, que atuou no Botafogo durante quase dez anos, ainda aconselha Sassá dizendo que o atacante deve saber a hora de aproveitar.

– O único conselho que posso dar é para o Sassá fazer as coisas na hora certa. Ele tem que aproveitar a vida. É um garoto novo e é normal que ele queira sair, ir à festas… mas precisa saber que tem obrigações a cumprir. Ele sabendo aproveitar durante a folga e voltar aos treinos dedicado não vai prejudicar sua carreira nem o clube. Durante o tempo que estiver atuando no Botafogo, Sassá tem que estar com saúde e condição física para treinar e disputar as partidas.

Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott would be an excellent addition for Sheffield Wednesday, says The Transfer Tavern’s EFL insider.

With a host of strikers released at the end of last season, Darren Moore will be looking to bring in someone to score the goals to fire the Owls back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Josh Windass was Wednesday’s top goalscorer last season but has been strongly linked with a move away from Hillsborough, whilst Jordan Rhodes and Kadeem Harris have left, and Jack Marriott joined Peterborough following his injury-hit loan spell.

Parrott spent last season on loan at Millwall and then in League One with Ipswich Town, and is expected to spend another year away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 19-year-old scored just twice in those 32 appearances combined, but is highly-rated by Spurs, and is already off the mark for Republic of Ireland at senior level following his brace against Andorra last month.

With that in mind, the EFL spy exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:

“He’s another, who after a stop-start season, might surprise a few and fulfil his potential at this big club.

“He’s quick, got goals in him and just needs a manager to trust him to deliver. Wednesday would have a serious player on their hands.”

A Raposa iniciou a partida em busca do gol. Com boas jogadas, demoraram muito pouco a balançar a rede. Depois de receber lançamento de Ariel Cabral, Giorgian De Arrascaeta driblou dois defensores e mandou no ângulo de Darley.

O gol do uruguaio não foi a única jogada de perigo nos 45 minutos iniciais. O centroavante Rafael Sóbis também teve duas boas oportunidades, mas parou nas mãos do goleiro Darley e na trave do Tombense, que pouco criou antes do intervalo.

O curioso é que a equipe de Tombos não precisou de muitos minutos para balançar a rede na etapa complementar. Protagonista de uma confusão com o zagueiro Manoel no primeiro tempo, o centroavante Alex Gonçalves balançou a rede aos dois minutos do segundo período.

Dermot told me: “The rest of my life will be my honeymoon.”

Depois da vitória no final de semana, contra o Bangu, o elenco do Botafogo se reapresentou na tarde desta segunda-feira, em General Severiano. Enquanto os atletas que iniciaram o jogo em Moça Bonita ficaram nas dependências da casa alvinegra, outros não relacionados estiveram presentes em campo. Entre eles, alguns titulares que foram poupados, como Airton, Bruno Silva e Camilo.

O treino foi dividido em duas partes: primeiro, a parte física habitual com a preparação. Depois, atividade técnica em campo reduzido. Além dos jogadores que foram poupados, nomes que atuaram poucos minutos no último jogo – como Montillo e Sassá – também participaram com o restante do elenco.

Na parte da recuperação, Luis Ricardo e Leandrinho prosseguiram o processo de transição para voltar a ter condições de jogo. O lateral se recupera de um
procedimento no tornozelo esquerdo, enquanto o meia busca voltar a estar 100% após um estiramento grau 1 na coxa esquerda no começo do mês.

The day started with Mark Ealham (60) and Min Patel (a career-best 71 not out) extending their over-night stand to 70, before Kent declared their innings on 286-7.Somerset were set 331 to win, but were soon in trouble on 38-4, with Martin Saggers removing the cream of the batting: Cox; Burns and Bowler. Parsons (52) and Turner (35) hinted at survival in a stand of 56, but once they fell victory for Kent was a formality. Saggers finished with 5-42.Kent, who remain second in the table, take 17 points to sustain their title challenge, while Somerset, who take just four points from this game, have a real fight on their hands if they are to avoid relegation.For the second day in a row there was no play at Old Trafford between Lancashire and Hampshire, with the visitors still stuck on 84-7 in reply to the hosts 163 all out. With one day left in the match a result is now unlikely.Weather permitting there should be an exciting finish at Hove, with Sussex 85-2 in pursuit of 287 to beat top of the table Surrey.The day began with Surrey’s new boy, Mushtaq Ahmed, thrashing 47 in just 31 balls to help his side set a really competitive total. They take eight points.In the second division Glamorgan and Gloucestershire drew their severely rain affected game at Cardiff. Mike Powell completed his century, finishing with 135, before Robert Croft hit an unbeaten 101 to help his side to 407. Ian Harvey and Mike Smith each took four wickets.Gloucestershire played out time to finish on 7-0 against part-time bowlers. They take 11 points, while Glamorgan take 12. Both teams have plenty to do if they are to secure promotion.Elsewhere Essex did their promotion hoped the power of good with a victory by 140 runs over Derbyshire.The day started with Essex taking their innings to 324 all out, with Darren Robinson striking 115.Derbyshire were therefore set 292 to win but never looked like getting close to the target, subsiding to 151 all out. Joe Grant took 4-45Essex take 17 points and leapfrog Derbyshire in the promotion race.Meanwhile Northants and Middlesex saw out a draw at Lord’s. Hick finished the day on 126 from just 153 balls and has helped extend his side’s lead to 293.Greg Smith struck twice early on to before Hick and Ben Smith (65) added 160 for the third wicket.Earlier Matt Mason had taken three more wickets to finish with 5-50 (a career-best performance) as Notts were dismissed for 161 in reply to Worcestershire’s 201. Paul Johnson was left stranded on 52 not out for the visitors.

According to talkSPORT, Aston Villa star Jack Grealish is having doubts over a potential move to Premier League champions Manchester City amid mounting speculation that he could be on his way to The Etihad this summer.

The report claims that the attacking midfielder could now opt to sign a contract extension to reaffirm his loyalty to his hometown club. Pep Guardiola is desperate to land the England international in the coming weeks, but the mercurial talent is seemingly doubtful that it would be the right move for his career.

Fans will be buzzing

Villa fans will be over the moon with this update as it appears to increase the chances of Grealish playing in claret and blue next season.

It would be a massive statement of intent from the Villans to be able to keep the midfielder and pin him down to a new contract if City come in with a big-money offer as it would show that they have the financial muscle and pulling power to turn down interest from the top clubs.

City are the current champions and have been prolific in terms of picking up trophies under Guardiola, which means that they would be able to offer Grealish the chance to win major silverware next season. Whereas, Villa’s last major trophy came when they won the League Cup in 1996.

Therefore, fans would be ecstatic if he decided to remain at the club as it would show immense loyalty to reject such an opportunity.

Ex-Villa midfielder Kieran Richardson once heaped praise on the English attacker, labelling him as a phenomenal talent and lauding his ability to beat players with the ball.

He said: “Jack Grealish, he’s a phenomenal talent. When I was there (Villa) playing he was coming through and you could see from the get-go he was a top, top player. The way he can just ghost past players, he’s so strong, he rides challenges. Even if you knock him down he’ll get back up and keep going, he won’t shy away from anything.

“He’s very confident on the ball, he’ll take the ball whenever he can. He’s a top player and the way he’s built as well, he’s massive, his legs are absolutely massive. Even when I first saw him I was like ‘This guy’s a unit’.”

Harry Kane and Kevin de Bruyne were the only two players who achieved higher WhoScored ratings than Grealish in the Premier League last season.

This suggests that the Villa star was one of the best players in the division, with his score of 7.56, and that is why keeping him would be a massive achievement for the club and fans would be delighted that they would be able to watch him play again next season.
