O Tricolor informou ainda que, na parte final do treinamento, Dorival trabalhou bolas paradas, ajustando tanto o posicionamento defensivo quanto o ofensivo. Variou cobradores e ângulos para batidas de escanteio e faltas.

O São Paulo encerra sua preparação para a partida em treino aberto à torcida no Morumbi, na manhã deste sábado, quando, pela primeira vez desde quarta-feira, a imprensa terá acesso à atividade inteira. A diretoria disponibilizará 30 mil lugares aos torcedores, que não poderão ir ao jogo porque o clássico terá apenas palmeirenses no Allianz Parque.

India gained a 1-0 lead in the four-ODI series against West Indies but there was plenty of scope for improvement in the performance which resulted in a 20-run win at Sabina Park on Friday. MS Dhoni did not appear to be a happy man as he shook hands with the West Indian batsmen after the game. The victory was largely due to Yuvraj Singh’s brilliance, his 131 off 102 balls making up for the loss of early wickets and ensuring that a wayward bowling attack had enough to defend.The Indian top-order remained suspect against the short ball with Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma falling to miscued pulls. Even Yuvraj and Dinesh Karthik succeeded only after surviving nervous moments against the rising delivery. It was only after the ball grew older on a slow pitch, and Jerome Taylor gave way to less threatening bowlers, that India began to dominate. The Indian bowling was also far from satisfactory; the problems caused by the inability to contain the West Indian batsmen were compounded by an unacceptable number of extras. India’s bowlers conceded 19 of the 29 extras through wides and bowled two front-foot no-balls.West Indies did well to get so close to a monstrous target but they could have done better and pulled off a stunning chase if one of their top-order batsmen played a long innings. Chris Gayle, Runako Morton, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul all made valuable contributions to keep West Indies in the game but got out just as they were beginning to dominate India. Brett Lee has conceded he will be unavailable for the third Test next week and is instead focusing on a potential return in the fourth Test at Leeds. Lee had hoped to recover from his side strain in time for the Edgbaston match, starting next Thursday, but the selectors chose not to rush him back and he will sit out of this weekend’s tour match in Northampton.”I’d be lying if I said I was available for the third Test because it’s going to be very, very tight,” Lee told the . “I don’t want to put the team in jeopardy because there is a chance something might happen. It’s not a great outcome if I’m out there bowling and I tear it again.”Lee’s delayed return will ease some of the immediate pressure on Mitchell Johnson, who has bowled poorly in the first two Tests. When Celtic secured the £4.5m signing of Vasilis Barkas back in the summer of 2020, fans of the club may well have believed the 27-year-old would go on to make the number one jersey at Parkhead his own for many a season to come.

However, it became evident all too quickly that the Greece international was not up to the standard required at Celtic, with the £2.52m-rated shot-stopper making just 15 Scottish Premiership appearances last season, over which he conceded 0.7 goals per game and averaged an extremely disappointing SofaScore match rating of 6.79 – ranking him as the Bhoys’ joint-ninth worst performer in the league.

Aside from his poor level of overall performance, the goalkeeper was also found wanting in a number of Celtic’s biggest tests of the season, with one such example coming in a 2-0 defeat to the Bhoys’ Old Firm rivals.

Regarding this performance, Kris Commons said of the 27-year-old’s display: “As for Vasilis Barkas in goal, can he make one save in a big game? He doesn’t save enough shots, has no presence and doesn’t shout.”

Tam McManus also criticised this particular showing, with the former Hibernian man stating: “Barkas, I mean [his] first real test was Saturday against Rangers. I think he’s horrendous at the first goal. He’s got to save that. [Celtic] spent £5m on Barkas, I think it is a waste of money.”

Indeed, since this fixture back in October 2020, the £9k-per-week ‘keeper has gone on to make just six league appearances for the Hoops, while the club made the decision to sign Joe Hart this summer – a player who has gone on to become Celtic’s undisputed number one this season.

As such, it is no wonder the Daily Record recently claimed that Barkas looks to be one of Celtic’s worst transfers in modern times, nor why the publication suggested that Ange Postecoglou may well look to ship the goalkeeper out this January – as the latter of these points would appear to be an absolute must for the 56-year-old manager in the upcoming transfer window.

Marcos Guilherme tem sete jogos pelo Tricolor. Estreou no mesmo dia de Hernanes, contra o Botafogo no Engenhão. E marcou dois gols. Depois, no clássico contra o Palmeiras, no Allianz Parque, marcou mais um. Ou seja, o atacante só marca em jogos fora de casa.

Com três gols, Marcos é o único que quebra um pouco da monopólio de Hernanes nos tentos anotados. O meia fez sete em sete partidas disputadas desde o retorno. Já igualou Luis Fabiano com segundo melhor início da história nas primeiras dez partidas e, se marcar na Bahia, iguala o recordista: o atacante Reinaldo, com oito gols em 2002. Desde que a dupla estreou, o Tricolor marcou 14 gols, e eles fizeram dez, para se ter ideia da importância.

Marcos Guilherme tem feito gols de oportunismo e, com velocidade, é considerado pelo técnico Dorival Júnior como uma das principais peças ofensivas. Contratado por empréstimo até o meio do ano que vem, o atacante se firmou como titular, enquanto viu o badalado Cueva sair do time para a entrada do garoto Lucas Fernandes. A tendência é que seja mantido.

No Morumbi, o atacante ainda não marcou gols, mas atuou bem. Contra a Ponte Preta, na última rodada, partiram dele diversas jogadas de ataque, sempre na velocidade.

Steve Davies, the wicketkeeper batsman, has decided not to renew his contract with Worcestershire at the end of this season.Davies, 23, informed the club of his decision to leave New Road earlier this week, after several months of speculation.”Having been involved with Steve’s development since the age of 11, I am quite naturally disappointed he won’t be part of the club’s plans in the immediate future,” said Steve Rhodes, Worcestershire’s director of cricket.”We respect his decision and hope that he has a very successful cricketing career with his new county and with England. He will always be welcome at New Road and will remain an integral part of our plans for the remainder of the season.”Davies has 26 dismissals so far this season, and averages 38.37 with the bat. He had a brief taste of international cricket during England’s tour of West Indies earlier this year when he played a Twenty20 international, but has been overlooked this season.He is likely to be followed out of New Road by a number of other senior players with Stephen Moore and Gareth Batty also expected to leave at the end of the summer. Moore is attracting plenty of interest from other counties after his consistent form of recent seasons, while Batty has become unhappy with the director of the club and is being tipped to head to Surrey, who are also interested in Davies.
