Bangladesh’s plans for the first Test against England have been thrown into disarray after Raqibul Hasan, the 22-year-old middle-order batsman, retired from international cricket on the eve of the series.Cricinfo understands that Raqibul is angered by his omission from the preliminary 30-man World Twenty20 squad as well as the recent one-day series against England and has decided to make a stand, but there was also a disagreement between the board and the selectors over his original place in the Test squad.He informed his team-mates of his decision on the team bus after practice on Wednesday. “We tried to tell him that it was a bad idea,” a team insider told Cricinfo. “He’s very young and we tried to talk him out of a rash decision. “The board had wanted Raqibul to be dropped for the Tests against England along with Mohammad Ashraful, who was omitted from the squad having also missed the one-day series. He has played seven Tests with a top score of 65 against West Indies and averages 19.14.”He wrote a letter to us this morning, withdrawing himself from the Test series against England. He also announced his retirement from all forms of cricket,” Bangladesh cricket board director Jalal Yunus told AFP. “It has stunned us. He is a brilliant cricketer and played two superb knocks against England just days back. Coach Jamie Siddons and Raqibul’s parents tried to change his mind. But he is adamant.”Cricinfo understands that Jahurul Islam, the uncapped 23-year-old batsman, has been called into the squad following an impressive performance in the National Cricket League final, which finished on Wednesday, where he scored 59 and 117 for Rajshahi Division who took the title against Chittagong Division.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has dropped a teasing transfer hint regarding the future of on-loan winger Jota.

The winners of the ICC’s Development Programme annual awards have been announced, with individuals and initiatives from associate and affiliate member countries from around the world being honoured.While Nepal celebrate their victory in the final of the World Cricket League Division 5, Binaya Raj Pandey, president of the Cricket Association of Nepal, received the programme’s Lifetime Service award. Namibia’s cricket development programme won Best Overall Cricket Development Programme, while the Deutsche Cricket Bund picked up the Best Women’s Cricket Initiative award.The Israel Cricket Association won the Best Spirit of Cricket Initiative for their programme, in partnership with UNAIDS and UNICEF, which has introduced cricket as a means of bringing together Jewish and Bedouin children in the Negev Desert to promote co-existence and tolerance among those caught up in the Israel-Arab conflict.”It is wonderful to see so many of our Associates and Affiliates being recognised for all the hard work and effort they put into their cricket programmes,” said ICC global development manager Matthew Kennedy. “Everyone who has won and those who were not successful this time round should be congratulated for their continuing effort and dedication to improving cricket in their nation.”Ireland’s James Bennett and S Gopalkrishnan of Indonesia shared the Volunteer of the Year Award for their dedication and contribution to the game in 2009. Mitchell Johnson took out his frustration at a first Test pair by hurting New Zealand and putting Australia on target for a comfortable series cleansweep. Johnson stung the hosts in their impossible pursuit of 479 with 3 for 39 and left a few physical bruises as well during hostile spells either side of tea.New Zealand need a world-record chase to level the series but there is virtually no chance of that after another modest top-order performance left them at 185 for 5. While the pitch is still excellent and the forecast is for another sunny day, they still require 294 runs, with Martin Guptill (29) and Brendon McCullum (19) the only remaining men capable of long stays.They will do well to make it to lunch if Johnson repeats the effort he produced after Marcus North’s 90 rushed Australia towards their lunch-time declaration of 511 for 8. Johnson removed Tim McIntosh and BJ Watling before tea and after the break delivered the crucial blow when Ross Taylor edged a ball angling across him.There was no respite for the batsmen when Johnson was involved as he operated around 150kph and moved the ball teasingly at times. New Zealand had to open with a century stand or more to have a chance and they did well until Johnson came on at second-change.In his second over he bowled McIntosh with an off-cutter that darted between pad and a diagonally-defensive bat. Johnson quickly made Sinclair wince when hitting him in the back with a short one that deflected for four legbyes.Four overs later Watling (24) pushed Johnson through cover for a boundary, but departed chasing a repeat and edged to Brad Haddin. The wickets made Johnson the fastest left-arm bowler to 150 wickets, with the milestone arriving in 34 Tests, and he had 2 for 18 from his opening spell of six overs.Taylor and Sinclair were in decent shape during a stand of 54 before Taylor (22) was tempted into pushing at a rising ball going away from him and Haddin had his second catch. Taylor was the only man capable of collecting a massive score to worry the Australians, who were triumphant at his departure.Further trouble came when Sinclair was lbw for 29 having missed a straight one from Michael Clarke’s part-timers, and they were 152 for 5 after Daniel Vettori was trapped in front trying to sweep Nathan Hauritz. – Ele (o Nilmar) ainda não está recuperado (da depressão) e pediu o fim do contrato para poder se cuidar. Ele não quer se reapresentar em janeiro sabendo que não está em condições. A ideia não é se aposentar, mas se recuperar e voltar a procurar o Peixe – disse.

Finally axe Wright

The £5.6k-per-week dud could find himself on the way out if the club lands one of their targets. One player with whom Rangers have been linked is ES Setif midfielder Ahmed Kendouci – Algerian outlet DZ Foot has claimed that he is someone the Gers are monitoring this month.

The 22-year-old is a versatile player who could operate in a multitude of roles for Van Bronckhorst in the second half of the season. He is capable of playing on either wing, in the number 10 position and as a central or defensive midfielder, which means that he is not limited in terms of what he can offer.

Last season, Kendouci recorded 10 goals and 10 assists for Setif in 34 league matches, showcasing his ability to score and set up goals regularly. Whilst Wright predominantly plays off the right wing, the Algerian can play in his position whilst also offering the flexibility of being able to fill other roles, and that could make him more valuable than Wright.

Ross Wilson previously hailed the Ibrox youngster as “determined” but his hard work has not paid off yet in a Rangers shirt, as he has been unable to nail down a regular spot. He has only started five games across the Premiership and Europa League this season and has averaged a modest WhoScored rating of 6.59 in Europe, suggesting that Steven Gerrard and now Van Bronckhorst have not deemed him worthy of being a consistent starter for the Light Blues.

This is why Setif’s creative conductor Kendouci could come in and prove to be an upgrade on the 24-year-old. Not only is he more flexible positionally than Wright, his goalscoring and creation statistics last season suggest that he could also offer more quality on the ball in the final third.

وامتدح أنشيلوتي لاعبه السابق سيرجيو راموس ومدافع باريس سان جيرمان الحالي قائلاً: “لا يزال أحد أقوى اللاعبين في العالم، هذا العام جيد، لدي لاعبون فازوا بدوري أبطال أوروبا مع 40 عامًا مثل مالديني، إذا اعتنوا بأنفسهم يمكنهم المضي قدمًا”.

وإذا كان سيرفع الرهان مع فالفيردي بشأن عدد أهدافه، رد المدرب: “لن أرفع الرهان لأنه يستطيع هزيمتي أيضًا، نحن سعداء من أجله لأنه شخص جيد”.

وتطرق المدرب للحديث عن عودة إيسكو الذي يلعب الآن في صفوف إشبيلية قائلاً: “أنا سعيد برؤيته يلعب ورؤيته غدًا، أنا مغرم به جدًا، لقد كان لاعب كرة قدم رائعًا في هذا النادي وشخص رائع بالنسبة لي”.

وسُئل أنشيلوتي ما الذي يمكن أن يحسن في ريال مدريد الحالي، وأجاب: “الاستمرارية هي لمسة يجب علينا دائمًا متابعتها، التزام جماعي قوي دائمًا، لكن في بعض الأحيان ننظر كثيرًا في المرآة، هناك العديد من الأشياء التي يمكن تحسينها على المستوى الجماعي، ولكن على على المستوى الفردي، لا يمكننا تحسين أي شيء’ علينا أن نشكر والدي اللاعبين، الذين قدموا لنا لاعبين ممتازين”.

وإذا كان سيمنح مزيدًا من الدقائق للاعبين مثل كامافينجا أو أسينسيو اللذين يلعبان في كأس العالم، أتم أنشيلوتي: “هذا صحيح، علينا تقييم الأمور الأخرى عند اتخاذ القرار”.
