Eliminado da Copa do Brasil no meio da semana e com o técnico Rogério Micale a menos de sete dias no clube, o Atlético-MG tenta driblar o momento conturbado na temporada e vai à capital paranaense enfrentar o Coritiba, às 16h deste domingo, no Couto Pereira. Concorrente direto na briga para se livrar das últimas colocações, o time mineiro ainda irá se reencontrar com um velho conhecido. Comandante do time no ano passado, Marcelo Oliveira estará à frente do Coxa e fará sua estreia no time.

O Atlético trata a partida contra o Coritiba como necessidade urgente de vitória. Apesar de estar ciente de que os últimos jogos do turno poderão ser os mais difíceis do Brasileiro até aqui, contra Corinthians e Grêmio, Micale fala da importância dos próximos três pontos para voltar a vencer e resgatar a confiança do grupo.

– Meu trabalho é diário, focado no próximo jogo. Temos um jogo importante contra o Coritiba, precisamos de um resultado positivo, depois temos o Corinthians, também precisamos melhorar. Lá é muito importante, queremos muito, mas temos que fazer nosso trabalho pensando no jogo do final de semana primeiro – disse o treinador, que quer aproveitar o retrospecto positivo do time fora de casa:

– Temos de aproveitar essa situação de que, fora de casa, a equipe está se portando muito bem e tem dado resultados. Acho que vai ser um jogo bom e vamos nos fortalecer mentalmente para que a gente possa chegar lá e manter o que a gente vem fazendo – acrescentou.

Em situação semelhante à do Galo, o Coritiba também tem encontrado dificuldades para vencer dentro de casa, já que sua última vitória aconteceu na quinta rodada. Este será um dos desafios do técnico Marcelo Oliveira e do zagueiro Werley, ex-Atlético.

– Precisamos reavaliar tudo porque dentro de casa temos que vencer. Aqui somos fortes independente do que ficou para trás. Não adianta ficar no papo, na conversa, é ter decisão, atitude, voltar a ser aquele Coritiba que todo mundo estava satisfeito – falou o defensor.

Amid all the big-money signings that Aston Villa made over the summer, one of the less heralded arrivals might be the one to make the most surprising impact over the coming years – Caleb Chukwuemeka.

The 19-year-old arrived from Northampton Town to join forces with his younger brother Carney, and speaking after the signing, Villa academy manager Mark Harrison raved: “He has been a player we have been monitoring for a while now and has continued to develop well at Northampton, making a number of appearances last season.

“He is an exciting attacking player with an eye for goal and we feel has a lot of potential. We are really looking forward to working with him.”

Just like former Villa striker John Carew – who scored 48 goals in 131 games for the club – the elder Chukwuemeka appears to be a real handful up front and embraces the physical battle.

That’s something upon which the teengaer’s former football coach Jamie Wilcock reflected recently, saying: “He scored 38 goals for the school, he played a variety of roles, but predominantly centre-midfield and he was a strong, strong, strong player, fantastic physical presence all over the field. Very, very strong on the ball, it’s very hard to get the ball off him too.

“He looks a little bit ungainly, I always used to compare him to Paulo Wanchope, all arms and legs, but he had fantastic control of the ball and he was a very strong presence on the field whichever age group he was playing at.”

Former Northampton manager Keith Curle was full of praise for the 19-year-old last year, saying: “Caleb has got an unpredictability about him and he can be unorthodox at times. What we’re trying to do is get the fundamentals in place in his play without taking away that excitement and that freedom in his play.”

Villa snapping him up had Noel Whelan applauding the club, saying that given the teenager’s previous first-team experience at Northampton, he could develop into a real star.

The former Leeds striker said: “We all know that Aston Villa have got a good youth system. Great academy facilities. It’s very, very high on their agenda when it comes to young players and bringing them through. They’ve let go of one of them in Jack Grealish.

“To take a chance on somebody who’s already been playing first-team football, that could be integral to them over the next couple of seasons with a bit more progression, that’s great business, in my opinion.”

The 6 foot 2 starlet could well be the next breakout star from Villa Park, and he appears to have all the physical tools in his locker to become the club’s next Carew.

Instead of being over-awed by the hosts in Perth on Sunday, the visitors stuck together and rode to victory with fine performances from Ross Taylor and Kyle Mills.They will take a 1-0 lead into the second game of the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Melbourne on Friday and the coach Andy Moles is aiming for more. “A lot of these young players dream of coming to Australia and winning a one-day game,” Moles told NZPA. “To win the first one, it sets up the series.”We came here with a belief and a plan that we could play well against Australia and our younger players will take a lot of strength from it. West Ham United have finally completed the signing of Chelsea central defender Kurt Zouma in a transfer worth around £29.8 million [Sky Sports].

Enjoying a productive 2020/21 campaign, the 26-year-old registered five goals in 36 appearances as he helped his side win the UEFA Champions League [Transfermarkt].

Now, he has finalised his move across London after a long-drawn-out negotiation process and medical.

West Ham were known to be attracted to his situation as far back as the start of August. However, it has taken until the final weekend of the window for David Moyes to get his man.

Zouma will link up with the Irons on a four-year-deal, and one would presume he is arriving to be a sure-fire starter given the price tag.

Everton have experienced a topsy-turvy start to the new campaign with Rafa Benitez’s Toffees side taking four points from their opening two Premier League clashes.

The Merseyside outfit have looked difficult to contend with in the final third but for all of the chances they’ve created, they haven’t been too clinical.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored in successive games, however, which should provide Benitez with a reason to smile.

That said, the depth within their squad at the moment will be a cause for concern, especially after a window where Everton have spent just £1.7m on four new signings.

That hasn’t been made any easier by a bout of self-isolation in recent weeks and now a fresh injury blow is likely to annoy the new manager further.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime, the Spaniard admitted that Fabian Delph would miss the game.

He said: “Delph has a problem with his shoulder.”

Although this won’t impact the starting XI on Saturday afternoon when they face Brighton, it will frustrate Benitez.

That’s because Delph is growing increasingly injury-prone with this latest setback the eighth time he’ll spend time on the sidelines after moving to Goodison.

After swapping Manchester for Merseyside in 2018, he has been absent from a total of 39 matches. He has also missed 285 days through injury and fitness issues.

The fact he’ll now have to sit out another portion of games is hardly ideal. The additional fact that Delph signed for £9m means his move has not been a success by any means.

The former England international has played on just 31 occasions for the club, starting only 15 times in the top-flight.

With that in mind, it’s just as well Jean-Philippe Gbamin is back in contention after his own injury hell.

Some Everton fans have been left fuming as a transfer update emerged on James Rodriguez.

As per transfer expert Ekrem Konur, Newcastle United plan to hold talks with the Goodison Park club over the Colombia international at the request of Steve Bruce.

Rodriguez has yet to feature for the Merseyside club so far this season amid uncertainties over his future, but he showed in the last campaign just how important he is to the team.

The former Real Madrid star scored six goals and provided a further nine assists in 26 games across all competitions in 2020/21 (Transfermarkt), and it would be gutting to lose a player of his quality after just one year, especially to a Premier League rival so late in the transfer window.

Peter Connell provided Ireland with the breakthrough, removing them both after lunch. وقرر مبابي تمديد عقده مع باريس سان جيرمان حتى يونيو 2025 بدلاً من الانتقال إلى ريال مدريد في صفقة انتقال حر.

ورد الخليفي على تصريحات فلورنتينو بيريز، رئيس ريال مدريد، بشأن المفاوضات مع مبابي، وذلك خلال مقابلة صحفية مطولة مع صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية.

يرى الهولندي ماتياس دي ليخت، مدافع يوفنتوس الإيطالي، أن مدربه السابق إريك تين هاج، سيحسن من وضع اللاعبين في مانشستر يونايتد، وعلّق على مستقبل زميله فرينكي دي يونج.

احتل مانشستر يونايتد المركز السادس، مع أقل عدد من النقاط على الإطلاق في موسم الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

لكن دي ليخت يعتقد أن واحدة من أكبر نقاط القوة لدى مدرب مانشستر يونايتد الجديد هي الحصول على أفضل النتائج من اللاعبين ذوي الأداء الضعيف لجعلهم لاعبين من الدرجة الأولى مرة أخرى.

ولعب دي يونج دورًا رئيسيًا إلى جانب دي ليخت حيث انتزعت هولندا فوزًا متأخرًا 2-1 في دوري الأمم في ويلز مساء الأربعاء.

وأردف دي ليخت: “فرينكي لاعب رائع والجميع يعرف مدى أهميته للفريق”.

ولكن عندما سُئل عما إذا كان اللاعب البالغ من العمر 25 عامًا قد ألمح إلى أين يكمن مستقبله، قال المدافع: “لم يقل أي شيء”.
